Optimising your workstation – Choosing the correct chair

When working from home or in the office the chair you use is vital in optimising your posture and

ergonomics.

Particularly when working from home, we may use dining chair or non-adjustable and

non-ergnomic which provide little to no adjustment features to support you.

What makes an ergonomic chair is the adjustability?

Primarily, you require adjustments for the seat height, backrest

angle, backrest height and of course the five-star wheely base that can allow you to sit comfortably

in the chair. There are a few key principles to follow to minimise any irritation throughout the day.

To be aware and to correct adjust your workstation ergonomics is imperative for good health and

maintaining good posture daily.

Below are two different chair choices

On the left: Chair too low, Shoulders hitching to reach keyboard, Increased load on shoulder and neck muscles, Incorrect position, INCREASED risk of injury

On the right: Ergonomic adjustable chair position, ✔ Shoulders in neutral alignment, ✔ Minimal load on shoulder and neck muscles, ✔ Improved position, ✔ REDUCED risk of injury
